The St. Johns River The Intracoastal and Beyond
The Sebastian River

For Christmas Judy treated us both to a day cruise on the River Queen out of Capt. Hiram's Marina in Sebastian. We don't often get the chance to cruise on the Indian River, so one cool, clear, beautiful December day we eagerly drove down to take our tour.

Judy and I have always wanted to try the Margaritas at Capt. Hirams but had never managed to be there at the same time the bar was open.

The Patio Bar at Capt. Hirams
Outdoor bar on the beach with palm trees and sand. (Not bad for late December!)

This time we got lucky. The "Sandbar" was open and we had time to drink a Margarita (and get another to go) before getting on the tour boat.

Capt. Hiram's Resort
The resort from the river as we departed on our tour.

It was windy enough to make us glad we had brought jackets, but it couldn't have been a more beautiful day. We were riding on a large, covered pontoon boat with about 20 other tourists. Our driver/tour guide was great at pointing out landmarks and wildlife and giving us a little history of the area.

Capt. Hiram's Marina
Boats moored at the marina with a spoil island in the background.

Christmas decorations on a yacht. We looked at boats decorated for Christmas and birds of all kinds going about their business as we left the marina and entered the Indian River.
