The St. Johns River The Intracoastal and Beyond

More High Water, continued

Leaving the cypress trail.
Leaving the cypress trail.

The trail led us past Spade Island, along the cypress, and emptied out into Bulldozer Canal. On the far side of the canal is agricultural land, but up until then it is hunting and airboating territory.

...with, every now and then, a wild MarshBunny.

A hunting cabin
A hunting cabin where the trail empties into the Bulldozer canal.

There are a couple of hunting cabins along the Bulldozer Canal. They are allowed to stay so long as they are never locked and available for anyone who needs to use them. The water is not always up so high (usually cooking is done in the "front yard"), but given the location it is in, it was obviously wise to build it on stilts.

Trip mapAs you can see from the map, we traveled quite a distance in my little boat. It's a good thing we packed a lunch!
