A
pair of Limpkin built their nest on this sandbar.
They
got quite perturbed at our presence and kept popping up at
different places and making loud noises to try to draw us away
from their nest. We hated to disturb them, but needed to get
out of the boat for a few minutes.

Normally
active at night, this Limpkin found
a shaded pool for a morning bath.
Like
the Ibis, the Limpkin likes shallow waters
for feeding. They will feed in small groups
of mixed birds like Ibis or Little Blue Herons,
but seldom in a family flock.
